Cobalt Networks Partners With PaymentNet™ Platform for End-to-End ISP Electronic Commerce Solution

Los Angeles, CA . - April 13, 1999 - PaymentNet™ (www.paymentnet.com), announced today that Cobalt Networks has selected the PaymentNet transaction processing platform for integration with its RaQ2 servers for ISPs providing e-commerce hosting services.

PaymentNet was selected as part of a broader set of partnerships announced today by Cobalt Networks that also include Miva Corporation, providing e-commerce storefront and development environments, and Thawte Certification, providing Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and digital certificates.

"In looking for partners to deliver an end-to-end commerce solution, we focused on those that could provide us with both scalability and ease of use," said Stephen DeWitt, president and CEO of Cobalt Networks. "PaymentNet’s thin client architecture delivered both attributes, making it an ideal fit for our ISP hosting solution."

Philippe Courtot, PaymentNet Chairman and CEO, added, "Cobalt’s server appliance solutions for ISPs are helping to commerce-enable a key channel for distribution of PaymentNet’s transaction processing services. Our solutions both emphasize open architecture, scalability and security, allowing them to evolve with the requirements of ISPs and their e-commerce customers. We are pleased to be in league with Cobalt and its other partners in this key market segment."

Cobalt's RaQ 2 server appliances are ideal for ISPs who wish to provide affordable, high-density, dedicated server solutions for their customers. Based on the popular Linux operating system, the RaQ 2 provides developers with a simple way to package and deliver powerful solutions to real-world customer problems. Working with Cobalt, Miva, PaymentNet and Thawte have integrated their software to create a powerful e-commerce solution without exposing either the user or the ISP to the complexities and cost of installing and administering traditional e-commerce servers.
